Picking A Guitar – short film
Around 2011, I was walking around Athens during the Eurozone financial crisis, and walking past a musical instruments shop, I had an idea. That night I wrote a screenplay for a short film. I put it in my pocket and forget about it for 13 years. Then in 2024, a good soul introduced me to two student film-makers. I dusted down the script, and we made a short film ‘Picking A Guitar’.
Hats off to the very talented co-director Felipe Candido de Brito. That’s the wonderful Adrian Crowley in the poster….. and there are also mighty performances by Abraham Shomefun and Keavan Jones.
I then sent it off to about 40 film festivals, and we were selected for screening at four, during 2025. Indeed, we were lucky enough to win a couple of prizes. One at the French Riviera Film Festival in Cannes (Best Comedy Short) in May 2025. The other at the Dublin International Short Comedy Film Festival (Best Double Act, for Adrian and Abraham).
